The Brook Street Band runs education projects that range from composition-based workshops which require little or no musical knowledge by the children, through to coaching on prepared music at all levels at music summer schools including the Dartington International Summer School. The Band also offers relaxed, fun concerts specially tailored to children.
It has worked in conjunction with many music hubs most recently in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. For Cambridgeshire it delivered a series of 9 concerts and workshops for key stages 2 and 3 across the county in March 2017 and March 2018, and for the Norfolk Music Hub the Band delivered a series of 9 concerts and workshops for key stages 2 and 3 (between February-May 2017) in conjunction with the Band’s inaugural love: Handel Festival.
The Brook Street Band has an on-going collaboration working with Cambridge Early Music, Cambridgeshire Music Hub and Aldeburgh Young Musicians to develop an historically informed performance ensemble for young people across those counties. The initial concert took place at Downing College Cambridge on 21 March 2017.
