The Brook Street Band at Home

We’re delighted to have been awarded Arts Council funding for our new Brook Street Band at Home digital project.

We've got all sorts of exciting plans for the coming months, whilst live performances are on-hold due to Covid-19.

Check in regularly to access podcasts, interviews, composer talks, masterclasses, family workshops and solo performances.

Masterclasses

Our next online masterclass for recorder, and baroque and modern flute players takes place at 3pm GMT, Saturday 21st November. Three participants (approximate minimum standard Grade 7+) will work on a Handel flute or recorder of their choice, in front of an audience of observers. The masterclass ends with a live Q&A session where you’ll be able to ask Lisete da Silva Bull specific questions about repertoire or technical issues.

Family Sessions – meet the instruments

Our Family Sessions introduced our instruments, including the violin family, the baroque flute, its modern metal cousin, and the recorder family. Violinist Kathryn Parry introduced us to the violin, with guest appearances from the viola, cello and double bass, including live playing and and a chance to ask questions via the chat function. The weekly sessions alternated between strings and woodwind, with recorder player and flautist Lisete da Silva Bull introducing us to the huge and varied recorder family, and later on the flute.
